"An Inordinate Fondness" is a series of oil paintings on wood depicting several very real beetles on a large scale, twelve in total. They range from ten to forty-eight inches in height and are rendered in vibrant color and coated in a lacquer to enhance their captivating shine.
The name of the series is derived from a J.B.S Haldane quote that states, "If He exists the creator has an inordinate fondness for beetles." I have found that I, too, have an inordinate fondness for beetles.
