The As-If Factor

The as-if factor is a message that is materialistically or visually representative of its own meaning. This interpretation of the as-if factor is the word "pollute" that has been stylized to resemble an oil spill. Thus, the materiality of the word indicates the meaning of the word itself.

ANIMATIONS
These are quick iterations of the as-if factor explored above, now incorporating the element of time. Both were created in Adobe After Effects.
The first is a simple study of melting the word into a puddle, with physics similar to a thick slime. The highlights were added frame-by-frame in Photoshop.
The second exploration is more imitative of the still graphic, again representing the patterns made in an oil spill, but this time featuring the shimmering colors when oil meets water.
