Wye Hill Brewing

As the sole in-house designer at Wye Hill Brewing, I designed dozens of unique beer labels. All were crafted in collaboration with the head brewer to represent the life of the beer, of the inspirations that guided it's creation and of the flavor profile that awaits the consumer. Each of these has been or is currently being sold at the brewery.

When There Are Nine
"This craft beer label by Sadie Tynch reads like a page out of a farmer’s almanac or an exhibit you’d find in a nature museum. It’s gorgeous, evoking the flora and fauna used to make this beer."   -Grace Lee-Weitz, The 16 Most Insane Craft Beer Labels from North Carolina Breweries in 2023, Hop Culture & Untappd
Semi-finalist in the 2023 NC Brewer's Guild annual label art competition.

A Million Miles Series
This is a 3-edition series of miso fruited goses with art inspired by 1970's sci-fi novel cover art. The order of release was Blue, Red, then Green and the visual style has a clear developmental arc, as do the brews themselves.

acres Series
This is a 3-edition series of corn cream ales, released in the order they are shown below. The first edition, Acres & Acres, set the tone for typography and the cel-shading style, though it came before the brewery's rebrand. Red and Green Acres were adapted to showcase the special type of corn used in each brewing process.

ENDLESS SHIFTING LABYRINTH / Series
This is a 2-part series of whiskey barrel-aged imperial stouts. The flavors are deep and complex, like a twisting labyrinth. The second edition, Labyrinth Double Barrel, is an even richer, more luxurious version that includes foil and embossing on the concentric ouroboroi.

Parliament of Birds
This beer was brewed in collaboration with Fullsteam Brewing in Durham, NC. Wye Hill Brewing's mascot is an owl and Fullsteam's is a sparrow, hence the tongue-in-cheek title. I created the portrait in Procreate and the rest of the label was assembled by the designer at Fullsteam.
I was tasked with creating the primary visual asset so I did several test paintings to practice the style. As an oil painter, I chose to follow a similar process to what I would execute with real paint, a sincerity which leans into the dry humor of the concept.
